Alcatraz Triathlon 2013 Results

John Savage finished 38th overall in a field packed with international champions including 2012 Hawaii Ironman Champion Pete Jacobs and the overall winner of the 2013 event, Olympic Silver Medallist, Javier Gomez.

Savage swam and rode strong fading slightly during the run to finish in 5th in the 25-29 age group just 30 seconds from the podium. A few errors in transition could be put down to experience and while we made a point of riding over the somewhat technical bike course it would've been beneficial to run over the run course and a physical walk through of the transition area. All-in-all a great season opener at a legendary event. Next up for Savage the Stanford Treeathlon in his build up to the USAT Nationals.
